You mention that there should be no problem in replicating Priore's work with contemporary technology and also you mentioned Becker's work, for which he was nominated for a Nobel Prize in Medicine presumably. So I suggest that Priore's Thesis currently being translated can be used as design material for experiments. Then it would be possible to test these hypotheses against Nature. If successful you should of course get all major credit for bringing this to the attention of the community. Even if the experiments do not work, or work partially, I am sure that all open minded scientists will appreciate your great efforts. Even partial (e.g. 5%) success in this context would be well worth achieving, e.g. with designs evolved from Priore and Becker. MWE
